Likely requirements for automatic garage door openers
General information based on CPSC's published rule lists, not legal advice and not a compliance determination. Your lab, broker or attorney confirms what applies to your exact product.
Certificate type
General Certificate of Conformity (GCC)
General-use products need a GCC. It must be based on a test of each product or a reasonable testing program, which can be done by any lab, including your manufacturer's.
Third-party testing
Not required by CPSC
You can rely on your own or your manufacturer's testing, as long as it supports each rule you certify.
Rules that apply to every product in this category
16 CFR 1211 incorporates UL 325-2017 entrapment protection for residential garage door operators.
Next: build the certificate and get your three Registry IDs
CertPrepy turns your lab report into a certificate, checks it against the Registry's rules, and gives your broker the Certifier ID, Product ID and Version ID.
