Conditional rules
These rules apply only when the condition fits your product.
- If also marketed for lounging or propping an infant: 16 CFR part 1243
- If treated as a feeding aid (child care article): 16 CFR part 1307
- If product has paint, ink, or a similar surface coating: 16 CFR part 1303
Notes
16 CFR 1242 (made after April 23, 2025). Maternity pillows are exempt. A nursing pillow also sold for lounging must also meet 16 CFR 1243. Phthalates may apply if it is treated as a feeding aid for children 3 and under; not confirmed from a CPSC source. HTS not confirmed (CPSC flags 9404.90 pillows/cushions under "Infant Sleep Products").
